As of Monday, January 20th, the Primer Sports team is working from Switchyards Downtown Club. Second floor, third door on the right. If this is the first you’re hearing of Switchyards, here’s the description from their website:
There won’t be a better place in Atlanta to grow consumer & design-focused companies. Part workspace, part coffee shop, part event series and part incubator, the Switchyards Downtown Club is a members-only gathering place to cultivate ideas, grow brands, and be around the consumer startups creating the future of Atlanta. It’s all happening in a historic 1920’s renovated building downtown.
We were intrigued to hear about Switchyards when we were first introduced to Atlanta entrepreneur Dave Payne. We already had serviceable office space working from home, but Dave and fellow founder Michael Tavani pitched Switchyards as much more than just a place to crank on your laptop. Plus, they have unlimited Octane coffee downstairs, so it practically pays for itself.
Three reasons we’re pumped to be a part of the Switchyards story:
We’re not sure who all we’re going to meet through this experience, and what all we’ll learn. But we know it will be exciting. We’re sharing an office with our new friend and fellow Braves fan Evan Metrock, founder of the appiExit. This guy created his own web crawlers to pull the location data of thousands of restaurant/gas station/hotels on the interstate, so you always know what’s ahead of you on your trip. He has no idea how much Chick-fil-A he’s found us over the years. And we have no idea how many other unanticipated interactions we’ll have with great people like Evan.
Upping our chops on branding and design
Some of what we’re hoping to gain is very specific. This collection of people should be uniquely positioned to help each other learn and improve. We’re long on sports knowledge and elbow grease, but certainly working on what it takes to build a beautiful customer experience and brand. At the members’ kickoff, one guy said to come find him if you want to “nerd out on fonts and stuff.” We want to tap into the collective passion for being brilliant with every detail.
One thing we miss about our previous jobs as consultants is the diverse array of smart people we worked with day in and day out. We know that when you throw this many hard-working, passionate people and companies together in a space, magic moments will happen. We can’t wait to be a part of them.
Shoot us a note if you want to come visit the space downtown. We’ll make sure they’ve got the coffee machines turned on.
